ThunderPOS Utilities

We’ve added a new feature for our Windows users to make certain maintenance tasks easier, or achievable without having to contact support for assistance.

The ThunderPOS Desktop Utility, added in version 26.1.5, allows you to manage certain functions from outside of the ThunderPOS software.

Reset Config File will remove certain configuration files from the local computer that, if corrupted, can cause ThunderPOS to crash on startup.  If you’re having an issue starting ThunderPOS, we would recommend trying this.

Reset Server Setup will remove the server selection file, allowing you to reselect where you want your data to be stored.  This WILL NOT delete the database; it will remain on your prior server.

Reset License Registration will remove your license from the computer and allow you to reregister with another computer.

Database Cleanup will run the database cleanup routine that is available through settings.

Database Backup will allow you to make a backup of your database to a directory of your choice.  This is only available if you are using an on-premise database server.

Restore Database will allow you to restore a database backup.  You must enter administrative credentials for your current database.  You must also be using an on-premise database.

Configure Firewall will automatically attempt to set up the windows defender firewall to allow access to the current computer on SQL server ports.

Local Database Status will display the status of your local backup database, if configured.  This can only be used if you are using a cloud database.

Test Server Connection allows you to check if you can reach your currently selected database server.
